I design and make nature inspired wood art jewelry using wood pyrography (wood burned), hand painted and hand dyeing techniques which includes earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, key rings & ornaments. My wearable & functional original design artwork involves florals, mountain landscapes & woodland creatures (some done in an impressionistic style).
The creation process for my wood pyrography jewelry begins by drawing the design on wood freehand and then burning it with a wood burning instrument. Coloration techniques involve using either acrylic paint, alcohol inks or colored pencils. Finally they are made permanent with an acrylic sealant.
My hand painted and hand dyed wood jewelry involves using acrylics and alcohol inks then sealing it with acrylic varnish.
Enhancing my jewelry, I utilize semi-precious gemstone beads, Czech glass beads, seed beads, metal beads and wood beads.
Wire wrapping and hand knotting techniques are used in my designs. Due to the variation of each design, no pieces are identical.
I add a mix of textures which results in a unique, out of the ordinary piece, using linen cord, leather, chain, wire and other materials.
I also occasionally create ceramic jewelry using mainly one of a kind beads and pendants I have collected over the years. They are curated into a design with glass, gemstone, wood and metal beads. Wire wrapping, hand knotting and beading techniques are used to enhance the design.
